Cryogenic deburring with liquid nitrogen (​rubber and plastic)

After the production, material flashes resulting from moulding are removed by a cryogenic process.
Rubber or plastic products are placed in an insulated rotating tumbler into which liquid nitrogen is fed; the low temperatures make the burrs stiff and brittle so that the simple impact between the products in the tumbler is enough to clean the products from the flashes.

At the end of the cryogenic process, the products are sieved by means of a vibrating sifter that removes the waste and are subject to an inspection that concludes the process.

This procedure is suitable for items that do not have a critical geometry, usually in high runs, to limit the cost of deflashing, in cases where an optimal result can be guaranteed based on the raw material.

Cryogenic blasting (​rubber)

After the production, material flashes resulting from moulding are removed by a combination of cryogenic and mechanical processes.
Rubber parts are placed in an insulated rotating basket into which liquid nitrogen is fed. 

An abrasive quartz grit is blasted at high speed into the basket by a turbine; the low temperatures make the burrs stiff and brittle while the grit facilitates the detachment from the products.

At the end of the process, the products are sieved by means of a vibrating sifter that removes the waste and are subject to an inspection that concludes the process.

This procedure is suitable for items that do not achieve the optimum result in cryogenic processing without blasting and in all cases in which a more precise and consistent deflashing is needed.
